The Polish Air Force has signed a agreement with Airbus Military for the acquisition of 5 C-295 transport aircraft to further extend their transport functionality.
Poland is to improve its air force fleet of Airbus Military C295 medium transports to 16 aircraft, under a new five-unit deal worth $262 million. Airbus Military claimed that the Polish air force had agreed upon 5 C295 transports. The Ministry of Defense of Brunei Darussalam, at the same time, said that PZL Mielec had completed the development of a few S-70i baseline Black Hawk helicopters that the nation had purchased.

U S Airways Plane Gets Stuck In Tarmac At Reagan National Airport
At Reagan National Airport, excessive temperatures caused by a powerful and recent heat wave instigated a U.S. Airways flight becoming stuck in a soft spot upon the tarmac. Officials believe unusually high temperatures this season caused the tarmac to soften in some areas.
A U.S. Airways regional jet apparently got stuck within one of these soft spots as it was leaving its gate in preparation for a flight bound to Charleston, South Carolina. An Airport tug cart was initially unable to retrieve the aircraft from the spot in which its wheels had sunken in to the tarmac.

Aircraft Tug Damages New Mexican Aircraft
New Mexico state officials have declared that a government operated twin-engine airplane has been damaged and placed out of commission due to an accident occurring at the Santa Fe airport.
The General Services Department stated that a 2006 Beechcraft King Air was collided into Friday by an aircraft tug, a small tractor which moves aircraft and equipment. The tug reversed into the Beechcraft King Air, separating one of the plane’s doors and damaging a wing.
At the time of the incident, the plane was located on one of Santa Fe airport’s tarmacs, getting ready for a flight on behalf of Children’s Medical Service.
Agency officials say that an inattentive driver may be a likely factor in the incident.

At Richmond International Airport, twelve AirTran Airways ground support employees were notified as of June 23rd that their jobs were being outsourced to independent contractors. According to the Transportation Workers Union, which represents the twelve employees involved, Southwest Airlines intends to outsource as much as 20 percent of their ground support jobs to independent third party contractors.
After the outsourcing announcement, protests were organized at Chicago’s Midway International Airport by Transportation Workers Union members in order to garner public support for opposition to any outsourcing plans made by Southwest.
According to analysts within the industry, Southwest Airlines has generally higher labor costs than many of their competitors, signaling a potential reason for why the company has recently been outsourcing their ground support jobs.
