Poland is to improve its air force fleet of Airbus Military C295 medium transports to 16 aircraft, under a new five-unit deal worth $262 million. Airbus Military claimed that the Polish air force had agreed upon 5 C295 transports. Poland is to improve its air force fleet of Airbus Military C295 medium transports to 16 aircraft, under a new five-unit deal worth $262 million. Airbus Military claimed that the Polish air force had agreed upon 5 C295 transports. The Ministry of Defense of Brunei Darussalam, at the same time, said that PZL Mielec had completed the development of a few S-70i baseline Black Hawk helicopters that the nation had purchased.

Brunei had purchased 12 of the helicopters a year ago, along with spare parts, ground support equipment and training. The C295 is a twin-engine turboprop airlifter used by over 13 countries in Europe,Asia, Africa and Latin America. It can easily transport about 71 completely equipped troops and above 20,000 lbs of cargo.

The aircraft‘s range with a full payload is considerably more than 800 miles. The most recent order by Poland for 5 C295s will bring the country’s C295 fleet to 16.

“The C295 is operating incredibly well with the Polish Air Force and we are very pleased to have a further vote of assurance from our customer with this new purchase for a further 5 aircraft,” reported Domingo Urena Raso. “We have a close relationship with Poland also through our Polish subsidiary and we appear ahead to further increase our presence in Poland.

Airbus Military’s Poland subsidiary is PZL Warszawa Okecie, obtained in 2001. Warsaw’s first eight C295s will be overhauled at the EADS PZL Warszawa-Okecie facility in Poland between 2012 and 2014. Particularly, it manufactures the outer wings for the Airbus Military CN235 and C295. Furthermore, it is a regional service center for the airplanes.

Airbus Military reported the C295s purchased by Poland contain a combination of dual technology civil/military equipment and are suitable with the newest civil airspace demands.

The aircraft being constructed by PZL Mielec for Brunei are the worldwide version of the UH-60M normally used by the United States. Navy. Officials believe unusually high temperatures this season caused the tarmac to soften in some areas.

A U.S. Airways regional jet apparently got stuck within one of these soft spots as it was leaving its gate in preparation for a flight bound to Charleston, South Carolina. An Airport tug cart was initially unable to retrieve the aircraft from the spot in which its wheels had sunken in to the tarmac.

The plane’s entire luggage was unloaded and all of its passengers exited in an attempt to reduce the weight of the aircraft. This proved irrelevant, however, as the plane still remained stuck. An electric aircraft tug that usually works with much larger aircraft was brought in and successfully dislodged the craft.

All in all, there was a three hour delay for the flight.

U.S. Airways officials claim that this is the first time an incident like this has ever occurred at the airport. However, in light of recent record breaking temperatures, perhaps it’s not surprising.

Nearly 2,500 temperature records have been shattered throughout the U.S. over the past 11 days.

When this incident occurred, the temperature high for the day was 98 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. It is believed that the prolonged and sustained sunlight of the recent heat wave has the potential to damage more infrastructure in the coming days.
